Success on Instagram

    This week's chapter was all about marketing with Instagram. I learned how useful it could be if you use it the right way.

    Since your Instagram profile is oftentimes people's first impression of your brand, it's important to create your brand aesthetic. Whether you're bold and vibrant or more minimalistic, consistency is important in trying to create a memorable and recognizable brand identity.

    Instagram stories have become the platform's most popular features, with millions of user stories every day. Therefore, it is a great outlet for real-time marketing. Stories give brands a chance to show limited-time promotions and interactive features like polls and surveys. Since Stories disappear after 24 hours, they create a sense of urgency, which results in a higher click rate.

    Something that a lot of companies might forget to do but is vital for discoverability is the use of hashtags. They are a great tool for increasing your reach and getting your content in front of a larger audience. There are two different kinds of hashtags, branded hashtags and trending hashtags. Branded hashtags are unique to your business and help to create a community. Trending Hashtags are widely used and will help your posts reach a larger audience interested in your niche. This being said, do not crowd your posts with hashtags. It's more about using the right ones than the highest amount of them. This way, you can get your content in front of the audience that matters.

    Instagram is also a great place to run contests and giveaways. I follow a good amount of Instagram users who do giveaways, and I can confidently say that it is one of the best ways to get people to follow you and get high rates of engagement. As long as you are giving away a prize that is relevant to your audience your brand is almost guaranteed to grow.

    Finally, using ads is a sure way to reach a much larger audience. With the ability to target specific demographics and interests, Instagram ads allow you to reach potential customers who are most likely to be interested in your product or service. Then, all you have to do is find which ad format resonates best with your audience, and you'll be pulling in customers left and right.

    Instagram has numerous ways for brands to market their products and services in very creative ways. By doing the things listed above, you can create a marketing strategy that resonates with your audience and gets you results.
