Winter Break Recap!

Where do I start? Winter break was a blast! Between hanging out with high school friends, the hectic holidays, and more family game nights than I can count on my hands, I barely had enough time to catch up on sleep.

I started my break off with a bang! Day one: I woke up at the crack of dawn and drove an hour to court for a speeding ticket I had received a few weeks prior. After sitting in the courtroom for over an hour and hearing every single other person's case, I was called to the stand. Just to get slapped with a $250 fine followed by a 2-hour drive home. Not the "bang" I was hoping for, but such as life, I guess. The good news is that break was all uphill from there!

My family and I did all our Christmas traditions, like visiting Santa, decorating cookies, and watching every Christmas movie we own. Then Christmas day came along, and I spent all day with my family. We opened gifts throughout the day, and I got a lot of great gifts, including some much-needed ONU merch. Following Christmas was my family's annual New Year's Eve party. I got to see a lot of family and friends that I hadn't seen in months. I spent most of my night playing poker and singing karaoke with my girlfriend.
My break was topped off with my sister's three cheer competitions and my grandma's 73rd birthday! I don't know a lot about cheer, as this is my sister's first year, but I know that she and her team getting 1st place in all three competitions is good, so congratulations Piper! For my grandma's birthday, our family went to Chili's for dinner, then came home and had ice cream sundaes while she opened her gifts.
Unfortunately, my grandma's birthday celebration was my last day of break. As much as it sucked leaving home, it's been great seeing my college friends again. I can't wait to see what the semester brings me!
