Valentine's Day Weekend
For those of you who don't know, last Thursday, you were able to make your own sugar scrub and bouquet of flowers. I saw this as a perfect second half of my gift to my girlfriend, so I went with a bunch of friends and got to work. I honestly could not tell you what essential oils I put in the scrub, but it smelled amazing. As for the flowers, I was just looking for my girlfriend's favorite color, purple, and trying to match the rest of the bouquet to that. Now, for not having a clue as to what I was doing, I thought everything turned out pretty good.
Fast forward to Friday evening, my girlfriend, Katelynn, arrived around 4 p.m. I got her settled into the dorm, and we hung out for a little bit before heading to Tavern 101 for dinner at 5 p.m. We ate, and then I walked her around Main Street and showed her all the little shops and good places to eat. We found a few places to take pictures while walking around, but soon enough, the cold got to us, and we decided it was time to go bowling. This might not seem like a good Valentine's date spot, but we both love to bowl, so we were hyped for it. The first spot we tried was obviously Norada Lanes since it’s only a few minutes from campus, but of course, it was packed. Then we tried a bowling alley I had been to in Bluffton, and just our luck, they couldn't get us a lane for two hours. The only other bowling alley around was in Lima, which was a long enough drive to make us want to just go back to the dorm, eat ice cream, and watch Hallmark movies.
We were up pretty late, so we slept in and missed brunch Saturday morning. When we got up, we got ready to head back to my house for my Dad's 48th birthday party, but before we left, we stopped at Taco Bell. Something about Taco Bell after a long night and no breakfast just hits different. The drive home flew by, and before I knew it, I was introducing Katelynn to endless friends and family. The party was a blast! We were having so much fun that we didn't even get to bed until 7 a.m. We had a pretty slow start to the day Sunday morning. We got up around noon, got something to eat, and hung out with my family most of the day before heading back to ONU in the evening. We hung out for the last few hours before she had to head back home, and right when it seemed like the perfect wrap for the perfect weekend, things took a little turn. Katelynn, my roommate, and I all walked out of the dorm at the same time. I let the door shut behind me, and right as it did, I realized I had left my keys on my desk chair in the dorm. I instantly looked at my roommate and asked if he had his keys, and of course, he had forgotten his, too. So I walked Katelynn to her car, we said our goodbyes, and then my roommate and I had to sit outside our dorm for 15-20 minutes waiting for our RD to let us in.
Hello Reese, it sounds like you had an amazing Valentine's weekend, even with a few unexpected hiccups! The effort you put into the sugar scrub and bouquet for your girlfriend was so thoughtful, and I’m sure she appreciated it. The bowling adventure, though, didn’t go quite as planned, but it’s great that you both still made the best of it. I can only imagine how fun the birthday party must’ve been, though it’s a bit crazy that you didn’t sleep until 7 a.m.! At least the dorm lockout gave you a moment to reflect on an unforgettable weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are the cutest couple I know! It's always fun to read about your adventures together since I never get the chance to see you on the weekends. The pictures you included in your post are just so adorable!!! Best wishes to you both!
