Springing Into Spring Break
I had a slow start to my spring break. I had an eight-hour shift at Vancrest on the first Saturday and Sunday of break. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but two eight-hour shifts when I'm supposed to be on break wasn't exactly the highlight of my week.
Eventually, the end of my Sunday shift came around, and I headed straight home. It's only an hour's drive home for me, so as long as I have my music, the time seems to fly by. I was about 15 minutes away from my house when I got a call from a high school friend asking me to meet some friends from my high school choir at the Texas Roadhouse by my house. So I went straight there and got a table. What my friends didn't think to check was when they closed, so a few minutes after I was seated, the manager came to my table and informed me that their kitchen closed in three minutes, so they couldn't serve us. Luckily, he was nice about the whole thing and gave me a box of roles on my way out. My group of friends pulled into the parking lot right as I walked out. We reconvened and decided to go to Buffalo Wild Wings. We ate and caught up before heading to one of my friend's houses to hang out longer and watch a movie. The time flew by, and before we knew it, it was 2 a.m. Before we left, we planned our next hangout for Wednesday of that week. We then said our goodbyes and headed home.
That Monday and Tuesday were spent with family, watching shows, and catching up. Unfortunately, my spring break didn't match up with theirs, so during the week, I was home by myself until the early evening. This didn't give us a lot of time to hang out, but we made the most of it. Then Wednesday rolled around, and the kids that are in my friend group that are still in high school had a half day, so we all met for lunch at Waffle House. We ate and then headed to our friend Alec's house. We sang karaoke, watched a movie, and played video games. After a couple of hours, I drove all of us to the mall. We looked around and, of course, didn't buy anything because we're broke. We then went to the food court and got Chinese food before deciding that we wanted to go see a movie. Of course, the group chose a movie theater almost an hour away in Michigan because they had reclining chairs. So I drove all of us to the theater, and we saw a horror movie called The Monkey. It honestly wasn't scary at all it was just gory. At this point, it was about 11 p.m., and our high school friend, who was still hanging out with us, had school the next morning, so I drove him straight home and got there at midnight. From there, two of my friends who are in college and I drove to a Kroger parking lot and talked and listened to music until 3 a.m. When I finally got home, I went straight to bed and passed out.
Fast forward to Friday evening, I met up with more friends who were in drama with me in high school to watch our high school's musical. They were putting on The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It was actually a great show that included a lot of laughs. After the show, my friends and I said hi to all of our friends who were a part of the show and some of our teachers from high school. We then went to Raising Cane's for dinner and then just drove around and talked for a few hours before I had to head home to meet my girlfriend at my house. She lives in Medina, Ohio, so we were stoked to be able to hang out as we don't get to see each other often. The last two days were spent with family and my girlfriend. We did a lot of shopping and eating out. I even got to take my girlfriend to my high school's last performance of their musical on Sunday, and she loved it. After the musical, we headed back to my house to hang out with my family for a bit before we both had to leave.
That caped off my spring break. I had a blast, but it went by too quick. With that being said, we only have two months of school left, so I can't be too mad!
Reese, it sounds like you had a very eventful and filled spring break. With that being said it sounds like you also had an amazing time being able to spend time with all your friends, family, and loved one. I too worked over spring break which was the last thing anyone wants to do over spring break but you got to do what you have to do.
ReplyDeleteHi Reese, not gonna lie I completely understand your feelings when it comes to having to grow up. I love being an adult now, but I'm also gonna be honest and say it's kinda tiring sometimes. Glad to hear that you have some good friends that your able to hangout with when your free. With it almost being summer you should be able to hang out with them a lot. Either way I enjoyed your blog and hope you continue to have a good experience.
